The vision for CPR grew out of the personal experience of two rural practitioners who wanted excellence from their ED. In 2002, they met two Emergency Medicine physicians who wanted to bring their expertise to Critical Access hospitals and the vision became a reality.
We recruit residency trained Emergency Medicine physicians who share the vision. Primary care physicians are considered as well but must have enough years of ED experience to be eligible for certification in Emergency Medicine through the Board of Certification in Emergency Medicine. The majority work with us full time.
Next we seek out Critical Access hospitals wanting this degree of expertise in their Emergency Departments. The result depends on local leadership. Sometimes we become the full ED staff. In other communities we augment the services of the local providers or simply serve as a safety net. Regardless, CPR brings a personal commitment to excellence that goes far beyond a simple business contract.
